Why choose a private dermatology clinic in London?

Whether you come in for eczema that won’t settle, a mole that’s changing, persistent adult acne or simply a routine skin check, private dermatology makes a real, practical difference on several fronts.

Fast access

An appointment within days of your request, and very often within 48 hours for situations that warrant it, whereas the NHS pathway can mean several months of waiting. Urgent requests, such as a suspicious skin lesion, are systematically prioritised by our reception team.

Longer consultation time

A dermatology consultation isn’t simply about looking at a patch of skin or a mole. It’s clinical time in which your dermatologist explores your medical history, previous treatments, lifestyle and potential triggers. That time is precisely what makes an accurate diagnosis and a realistic care plan possible.

Continuity of care

The same dermatologist follows you over time, which changes everything for chronic conditions like eczema, psoriasis and rosacea, or for annual mole surveillance. This continuity is one of the most concrete strengths of private dermatology.

Direct access, no GP letter required

You can book an appointment at our private dermatology clinic directly, without going through your GP. If you do have a letter from your GP, bring it along to your consultation: it provides useful context for your dermatologist, but it is not required to book.

Finding the dermatology consultation that fits your needs

Every patient who sees a dermatologist comes with a different concern. To guide you towards the most appropriate care, our dermatology consultations are organised around five distinct services, each covering a specific reason for consulting. If your concern doesn’t fit into one of these five services or you’re unsure which entry point is right for you, contact us directly and we’ll point you to the most relevant practitioner.

Dermatology procedures

Surgical removal of skin lesions (moles, cysts, skin tags, lipomas), keloid scar treatment, and K-Laser Blue Derma laser procedures for the skin. A dedicated page for interventional and surgical dermatology.

Adult acne

Medical management of adult acne in all its forms: hormonal acne, persistent acne, nodular acne. Post-acne scar treatment. A page dedicated to adult patients only.

Eczema

Diagnosis and treatment of atopic eczema, contact eczema (with patch testing where needed) and eczema in infants and children. Adult and paediatric management with Dr Sophie Bouvresse.

Mole check-up

Dermatological examination of moles, mole mapping and long-term surveillance for patients in higher-vigilance profiles (fair skin, multiple moles, personal or family history of skin cancer).

A dermatology clinic built on expertise and trust

Kensington InternationalClinic grew out of the vision of a group of French doctors in London who wanted to offer private medical care where clinical skill meets the linguistic and cultural expectations of an international patient base. In dermatology, this translates into four concrete commitments.

A Franco-British team of recognised dermatologists

Dermatology at our private clinic is delivered by three practitioners with complementary areas of expertise.

  • Dr Sophie Bouvresse, lead dermatologist at KIC, is a graduate of Paris VI and a member of the French Society of Dermatology and the British Association of Dermatologists; she covers medical dermatology in adults and children.
  • Dr Kim Varma, a UK-trained Consultant Dermatologist, specialises in Mohs surgery and dermato-surgery.
  • Dr Sultan Hussein, a graduate of Exeter, Oxford and Cambridge, handles scar revision, minimally invasive aesthetic treatments and reconstructive surgery.

Consultations in four languages

Talking about your skin and your body is easier in your own language. At KIC, dermatology consultations are available in English, French, Mandarin and Malay depending on the practitioner. This linguistic diversity, rooted in the clinic's Franco-British origins, makes us a natural point of access for London's French-speaking community, for expatriates from the Mandarin and Malay-speaking communities, and for international patients who prefer to be seen in a language other than English.

A complete on-site technical platform

Digital dermatoscopy for mole examination, epicutaneous (patch) testing to investigate suspected contact eczema, skin biopsy for lesions requiring histological analysis, minor dermatological surgery under local anaesthetic, cryotherapy, K-Laser treatments. The entire pathway, from diagnosis to therapeutic procedure, can be delivered on our premises without referral to another facility.

Fast access, no GP referral required

Unlike the NHS pathway, you can book directly with a dermatologist at our private dermatology clinic in London. Appointments are typically offered within days, and very often within 48 hours for situations that warrant it.

Urgent requests, such as a concerning skin lesion or suspected melanoma, are systematically prioritised by our reception team.
