Naturopath in London

At Kensington International Clinic, naturopathy holds a particular place in our approach to health. Alongside the conventional medicine practised by our GPs and international specialists, our naturopathy consultations offer a complementary path, rooted in functional medicine; they make it possible to identify the root causes of health issues.

Located in the heart of South Kensington, just a few minutes from Chelsea and Knightsbridge, our private clinic welcomes patients seeking a holistic, personalised approach grounded in a detailed understanding of the body’s biological mechanisms. This consultation is provided by Paul Harvey, a qualified naturopath and nutritional therapist specialised in functional medicine.

Paul Harvey, our naturopath specialised in functional medicine in London

Paul Harvey graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) in London, where he obtained his diploma in nutrition in 2022. He is a registered Nutritional Therapist, holder of the DipCNM and a member of three of the United Kingdom’s most respected professional bodies: BANT (British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine), CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council) and ANP (Association of Naturopathic Practitioners).

His practice falls within the framework of functional medicine, an approach that views the body as an integrated system and seeks to identify the biological imbalances at the root of chronic conditions. Passionate about biochemistry and the ways the body’s molecular pathways interact with one another, he draws on his in-depth knowledge of vitamins, minerals, nutraceuticals, nootropics and herbal medicines to support the body’s inherent capacity for self-regulation.

His clinical approach rests on five principles: a holistic view of the person, a fully personalised plan, a systems-based reading of symptoms, a focus on root causes, and placing the patient at the centre of every therapeutic decision.

What is an ultrasound-guided injection and why is it more effective?

An ultrasound-guided injection is a procedure in which the practitioner uses an ultrasound transducer placed on the skin to visualise, in real time on a monitor, the targeted tissues and the path of the needle. Unlike a blind injection, which relies solely on surface anatomical landmarks, an ultrasound-guided injection ensures that the substance is deposited precisely at the intended site.

The benefits of ultrasound guidance are well documented in the medical literature:

  • Greater accuracy: for intra-articular knee injections, accuracy improves from 75% to 100% with ultrasound guidance.
  • More lasting relief: studies show that patients who receive hyaluronic acid injections under ultrasound guidance require joint replacement surgery significantly less often than those treated without guidance.
  • Enhanced safety: real-time visualisation reduces the risk of contact with unintended structures such as nerves and blood vessels.
  • Less discomfort: the injection is faster and more precise, which reduces the duration of the procedure and the degree of tissue trauma.

What are Paul Harvey'sareas of expertise

Paul Harvey focuses his practice on four key areas where naturopathy and functional medicine deliver real added value as a complement to conventional treatments.

Digestive health and microbiome disorders

Chronic digestive issues (bloating, reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, gut dysbiosis, food intolerances) are among the most common reasons for consultation. Paul Harvey approaches these concerns through a functional reading of the microbiome and intestinal permeability, using personalised protocols that combine dietary rebalancing, targeted nutraceutical support and the management of low-grade inflammatory mechanisms.

Chronic inflammation and autoimmune conditions

Silent chronic inflammation is today recognised as an underlying factor in many modern pathologies, from cardiovascular disease to cognitive disorders and autoimmune conditions. Paul Harvey offers dedicated support to patients living with autoimmune conditions, with the goal of reducing the overall inflammatory burden through nutritional interventions and lifestyle adjustments.

Oncology support and post-cancer recovery

Naturopathy never replaces conventional oncological treatments, but it can play a valuable supporting role: nutritional support during chemotherapy, management of side effects, rebuilding vitality after treatment, and recurrence prevention through metabolic optimisation. Paul Harvey accompanies his patients at various stages of their care journey, always in coordination with their referring medical team.

Metabolic conditions and cognitive longevity

Diabetes, prediabetes, hypercholesterolaemia, cardiovascular disorders, age-related cognitive decline, long Covid: these are all situations where a functional approach, focused on restoring metabolic pathways and on neurological protection, offers real complementarity to conventional medical care.

Naturopathy and women's health: a complementary approach

More broadly, naturopathy and functional medicine are recognised for their benefits on a range of women’s health concerns: hormonal imbalances, menstrual cycle disorders, perimenopause and menopause symptoms, nutritional support in the context of fertility, and post-partum recovery. These concerns can indeed stem from an inflammatory, metabolic or digestive terrain that a functional approach knows how to address with precision.

This dimension is one of the reasons naturopathy finds its natural place within our women’s health pole, alongside gynaecology, fertility and phlebology. It does not replace the expertise of a gynaecologist or endocrinologist; it complements their work as part of a comprehensive, integrative model of care.
