Neuropsychological evaluation
Did you know that many adults live with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) without ever having it identified? The symptoms have long been put down to stress, scattered thinking, a lack of discipline, or an “overly sensitive” temperament. Late diagnosis is not uncommon: many adults first recognise their ADHD in their thirties, forties, or fifties, often in the wake of professional burnout, anxiety treatment, or after a child’s own diagnosis.
At Kensington International Clinic, based in the heart of London, we offer a comprehensive adult ADHD assessment led by clinical psychologists specialised in neuropsychology, French-trained and practising in both French and English. The evaluation is rigorous, grounded in standardised clinical tools, and results in a detailed written report.
Aboubakar Wane and Laurène Lahierre, our adult ADHD assessment specialists
Our adult ADHD assessment is led by two clinical psychologists specialised in neuropsychology, whose backgrounds complement one another:
Aboubakar Wane
is our clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist, a graduate of Université Paris Cité (Descartes).
His master’s degree in psychology, psychopathology and health psychology, with a specialisation in neuropsychology, trained him specifically in adult neuropsychological assessment.
He works with internationally recognised assessment tools: the WAIS (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale), the DIVA (Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults) and CLACOS, and complements each assessment with an evaluation of potentially associated conditions such as adult autism, depression, or executive function difficulties ;
He consults in French and English.
Laurène Lahierre
is our clinical psychologist, specialised in neuropsychology.
Trained at the École des Psychologues Praticiens and later at Université Paris VI in neuropsychology, she has been practising for fifteen years. Her international career makes her particularly attuned to the professional, social, and educational integration challenges that ADHD can raise. She is also trained in ACT therapy and EMDR, which allows for structured post-assessment support when anxiety or trauma-related comorbidities are present.
She consults in French and English.
How to recognise adult ADHD
ADHD does not disappear in adulthood; it hides behind compensation strategies, particularly in women and in gifted adults. The signs that prompt an assessment are chronic, recurring difficulties that gradually weigh on professional, personal, or psychological wellbeing.
The most common manifestations in adults include:
- Sustained attention difficulties at work, while reading, or in meetings, with a persistent sense of mental disengagement
-
- Chronic procrastination and difficulty starting tasks, even those perceived as important or urgent
-
- Organisation and time management issues: forgotten items, lateness, overdue work, a full but disordered schedule
-
- Cognitive or verbal impulsivity: snap decisions, interrupting others in conversation, compulsive purchases
-
- Mental hyperactivity rather than physical hyperactivity: cascading thoughts, difficulty “switching off”
-
- Emotional dysregulation: quick frustration, irritability, heightened sensitivity to rejection or criticism
-
- Cognitive fatigue by the end of the day, with the feeling of having struggled a great deal while achieving little
-
- Disrupted sleep, difficulty falling asleep, shifted sleep cycles
-
- Fragile self-esteem, a persistent sense of underperforming relative to one’s perceived potential.
Why consider a consultation ?
A consultation with one of our specialists has three concrete aims:
Understand
Many patients arrive after years of quiet self-questioning. An assessment, grounded in validated clinical tools, replaces interpretation with a precise clinical reading.
Decide
The written report gives you the information needed to consider next steps, whether that is psychotherapeutic support, a psychiatric consultation with a view to medication, workplace accommodations, or ADHD coaching.
Act
Undiagnosed adult ADHD remains a risk factor for chronic anxiety, depression, addictive behaviours, and certain forms of professional burnout. Identifying the condition opens the door to appropriate support and to a tangible improvement in quality of life.
