Travel Vaccines, Flu & HPV
Whether you are preparing for an international trip, looking to protect your family ahead of flu season, or simply bringing your vaccination record up to date, our team of experienced GPs is here to help. As a private London vaccination clinic based in the heart of Chelsea, we offer the full range of vaccinations recommended by UK and international health authorities, including yellow fever (we are an accredited Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre), administered in a calm, confidential and thoroughly professional setting.
Our practice is available in English, French and several other languages. We welcome patients from across London and internationally, including the large expatriate community established in South Kensington and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Your
vaccination care team
Vaccinations at Kensington International Clinic are delivered through a clear division of clinical roles. Consultations and personalised vaccination plans are conducted by our team of experienced general practitioners; vaccine administration itself is carried out by Mohamed Abbas, our qualified clinic nurse, who brings clinical precision and a calm, reassuring approach to every appointment.

Two options,one standard of care
We offer two levels of service, designed to suit different needs and circumstances.
Our vaccination consultation (£120 + vaccine cost) includes a full medical assessment with one of our GPs. Your doctor will review your vaccination history, identify any gaps or outstanding boosters, assess your destination and personal health profile if you are travelling, and prescribe the relevant vaccines which are then administered during the same appointment by our clinic nurse. This option is recommended for new patients, anyone preparing for travel to a high-risk destination, and anyone who has not had a formal vaccination review in recent years.
Our injection service (£50 + vaccine cost) is available to patients who already hold a valid prescription or who know precisely which vaccine they need. There is no medical consultation included, our practitioner simply administers the injection in our clinical setting, with the same standards of safety and care.
If you are unsure which option applies to you, we recommend booking a consultation. A few minutes with one of our doctors can make a significant difference to how well-protected you are.
Travel vaccinations in London:
what we offer
We support patients travelling to destinations across Africa, Asia, the Americas and beyond. Our GPs assess your itinerary and medical history to recommend the right combination of vaccines and our nurse can administer them in a single appointment where the schedule allows.
We advise booking your travel vaccination consultation at least four to six weeks before departure. Some protocols require multiple injections spaced over several weeks, and certain vaccines need time to take full effect.
Kensington International Clinic is a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, authorised to administer the yellow fever vaccine and to issue the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), commonly known as the "yellow card". This certificate is required for entry into a number of countries in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of South America, and is routinely checked at the border.
A single dose of the yellow fever vaccine provides lifelong protection for most adults. We recommend administering it at least ten days before departure: this is the minimum period required for the certificate to become valid for international travel.
We offer vaccination against typhoid for patients travelling to South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and Central America, where this bacterial infection remains prevalent. The injectable vaccine provides approximately three years of protection.
We administer both hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccines, separately or in combined form depending on your clinical needs. Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for most destinations outside Western Europe; hepatitis B is particularly advised for longer stays and healthcare professionals travelling abroad.
For patients heading to remote areas, working with animals, or travelling to countries where post-exposure treatment may be difficult to access, we offer the full rabies vaccination course (three injections, spaced over 21 to 28 days). Rabies vaccine cost varies according to the number of doses required and will be confirmed at your consultation.
We also offer vaccination against meningitis, Japanese encephalitis, tick-borne encephalitis, and diphtheria-tetanus-polio boosters, the latter being frequently overlooked in adults.
Flu vaccinations and seasonal vaccines
We offer flu vaccinations each autumn from the moment the seasonal vaccine becomes available. The NHS provides flu vaccination free of charge to eligible groups (adults over 65, pregnant women, individuals with chronic conditions, and healthcare workers). For those who fall outside these categories, or who prefer the convenience and timing of private care, we are able to vaccinate without delay.
Beyond flu, we also offer:
- Shingles vaccine : recommended from age 50 or 70 depending on individual risk profile
- Pneumococcal vaccine : particularly advised for patients over 65 and those who are immunocompromised
- Covid-19 booster : subject to current recommendations and availability at time of consultation
HPV Vaccine in London and children's vaccinations
HPV vaccine
We offer the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine, which protects against the strains responsible for the majority of cervical cancers, as well as several oropharyngeal, anal and genital cancers. It is recommended primarily for adolescents before sexual activity begins, and can also be administered in adulthood depending on individual circumstances. The number of doses required (two or three) depends on the patient’s age at the time of the first injection.
HPV vaccine cost depends on the number of doses in the schedule and will be confirmed at the time of booking.
Supporting families across two healthcare systems
We regularly see families who have relocated to London from France, continental Europe and beyond, and who need help navigating the differences between their home country’s vaccination schedule and the NHS childhood immunisation programme.
One important distinction worth noting for French families in particular: in France, eleven vaccines are legally mandatory for infants since 2018. In England, no vaccine is legally compulsory, all are strongly recommended under the NHS schedule, but the decision ultimately rests with parents. Our GPs are fluent in both systems and can advise on any gaps that may need to be addressed.
Childhood vaccines we administer include:
- Diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio and hepatitis B : given from the first weeks of life
- MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) : two doses, essential before a child enters nursery or school
- Meningitis vaccines : several formulations depending on age and clinical recommendation
- Chickenpox : for children who have not previously been infected
- Rotavirus : given orally in infancy
- HPV : for adolescents
Adult booster vaccinations
Vaccine-acquired immunity does not last indefinitely for all diseases. Boosters are frequently overlooked in adults, particularly among expatriates and internationally mobile patients who may not have a long-standing GP relationship or a complete vaccination record to hand.
We administer the following adult boosters as a matter of routine:
- Diphtheria-tetanus-polio : every ten to twenty years depending on current guidelines
- Whooping cough (pertussis) : recommended for adults in regular contact with newborns
- Shingles : from age 50 or 70 depending on risk profile
- Pneumococcal : for patients in at-risk groups
If you no longer have access to your vaccination record, we can carry out a full review and establish a clear plan for any outstanding immunisations.

FAQ How long do your vaccines last?
How long does the typhoid vaccine last?
The injectable typhoid vaccine (Vi polysaccharide) provides protection for approximately three years. A booster is recommended before any subsequent travel to an endemic area beyond that point.
How long does the hepatitis A vaccine last?
A single dose of the hepatitis A vaccine provides protection for one to two years. Once the booster dose is given (typically six to twelve months after the first), protection is estimated to last twenty to thirty years based on current evidence.
How long does the rabies vaccine last?
Primary vaccination provides a lasting immunological foundation. Should you be exposed after vaccination, a simplified post-exposure course (two injections rather than the full protocol for unvaccinated individuals) is still required. Those in professional risk categories are advised to have periodic antibody titre checks.
How long does the shingles vaccine last?
The recombinant shingles vaccine (Shingrix) offers high-level protection for at least seven years according to current follow-up studies. Efficacy gradually declines over time, though remains meaningful well beyond that period.
If you are unsure about the status of any previous vaccination, our GPs can help reconstruct your vaccination history and plan any outstanding boosters.
